i am going to lose the internet? o e o

There's a looming macabre rumors going on Indonesia. Within two weeks or so more than 400 Internet providers agreed to stop operating and therefore effectively put our country on the brink of internet apocalypse, indefinitely.

The reason of this is related to the arrest of Indar Atmanto, IM2's Direktur Utama, sentenced guilty of violating communication law or something... This raises many protest because what he had done is strictly abiding rules and regulations; but still got imprisoned anyway. So other ISPs feel threathened and rather shut down their bussiness than got arrested (since even following rules didn't guarantee not to be thrown to jail). There's hole in the rules or something, I don't know. They're still waiting MA's (Supreme Court) word about this. Lot of ruckus there, thrown fists to the air and heated debates.

I don't know how much of this is fact, I am guessing this is some kind of protest against government. It's kinda unnerving here, the netizens are growing anxious.

What? Really? (Update?)... continuation of this anxiety turned out to dissapear in the dark (figures). Media stopped reporting this since there's whole lot of bigger news (Our new president Jokowi! ) but I feel kinda dissatified. This whole non-sense arresting which is the root of Indonesia's internet apocalypse rumor) is not the first thing happened here, so I can't say I'm that surprised. Still, the outcome has not resolved yet, true that ISPs here still operating, I'm sure they're operating like scared cats.... (funny isn't it? arresting bright people for absurd charges but still trying to squeeze profit as they see fit. Indonesia Government)
nevertheless, I think we Indonesian still can use internet as usual, safe and sound (except our Kominfo trying to be an ass again and blocking sites indiscriminately, like before). I just feel sorry for those ISPs' higher-ups, they might get arrested for no reasons someday. :iconsmokeplz:
